Role Summary

You will be fully responsible for the health, performance, and scaling strategy of our entire data tier. This includes managing, optimizing, and performing migrations for key databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and providing essential data infrastructure support. A specific focus will be placed on optimizing systems for high-volume data scraping and low-latency query performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, proactively monitor, and expertly tune multiple database instances, including PostgreSQL (for structured data) and MongoDB (for unstructured data).
  • Execute complex database migrations, schema evolution, and implement robust replication and clustering strategies for guaranteed high availability.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis and optimization of slow SQL and NoSQL queries, collaborating directly with development teams to enhance overall application efficiency.
  • Oversee and optimize network configuration related to secure data access, management of large proxy pools, and secure data transfer protocols.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on data modeling, indexing strategies, and strategic database selection for new data acquisition projects.
  • Implement and rigorously enforce advanced database security protocols, comprehensive backup solutions, and formal disaster recovery procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Substantial experience managing and optimizing PostgreSQL databases (advanced indexing, partitioning, and deep performance tuning).
  • Proven experience with NoSQL database administration, specifically MongoDB (sharding, cluster management, and aggregation pipeline optimization).
  • Proficiency in database migration tools, version control for schemas, and advanced data manipulation languages.
  • Solid, practical understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, load balancing) and security best practices related to data transit and access.
  • Expert ability to profile database load and troubleshoot complex, real-time performance bottlenecks in production environments.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with additional key-value or search databases (e.g., Redis, ElasticSearch).
  • Familiarity with managed cloud database services (AWS RDS, MongoDB Atlas, Azure DB).
  • Detailed knowledge of data scraping infrastructure, global proxy networks, and traffic load balancing techniques.
  • Experience automating routine database maintenance and provisioning tasks using shell scripting or Python.
